Exciting New Beginnings at Bon Accord Montessori Child Development Centre
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Bon Accord Montessori Child Development Centre, a premier childcare facility now open in the heart of Bon Accord, Alberta. Designed with the community’s needs in mind, this center is poised to make a significant impact on the lives of local families, providing top-tier childcare services with a capacity for 33 children, and plans are already in motion to expand services to school-age children through the Out of School program.
A Commitment to Quality and Affordability
Bon Accord Montessori is fully licensed by the Alberta government and is backed by affordability grants, subsidies, and wage top-ups, which have made it possible to offer high-quality childcare at an affordable price. Thanks to this support, most families will pay less than $300 per month, making it accessible to a broad range of families in our community.
The Vision Behind the Centre
Lawrence and Laura Fagbemiro, the passionate entrepreneurs behind this project, have been dedicated to serving the Bon Accord community since they opened their pharmacy in 2017. Their interactions with local families highlighted a significant gap in childcare services, sparking the idea for a Montessori program in Bon Accord. Recognizing the need for a licensed childcare facility to serve the over 100 children aged 0-5 years in the community, the Fagbemiros embarked on a journey that has now come to fruition.
“Setting up a business is easy in Bon Accord due to the tremendous support from Bon Accord Council and the Town of Bon Accord,” said Lawrence and Laura Fagbemiro. “We wouldn’t have been able to sing success songs if not for the political and administrative backing from the town.”
Their goal is ambitious yet deeply rooted in community spirit: “Our passion to have businesses in Bon Accord was born out of the love and acceptance from the people. Our goal is to touch every life in Bon Accord by 2030.”
A New Asset for Bon Accord
The Town of Bon Accord is immensely grateful for the Fagbemiros’ decision to establish this center here. This new facility not only addresses a crucial need within our community but also stands as a testament to the town’s growth and commitment to its residents.
Mayor Brian Holden captured the essence of the center’s mission with a quote from Maria Montessori:
“Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.”
